"18 years of food and family" that was the message we created for the 2013 Ocean Basket birthday celebration. The brand's yearly birthday bash is targeted at loyal customers and fans who can buy their Famous Fish and Chips for a price equal to the year's birthday. This year the entire campaign was lead by digital and we made it an event to remember.
Reward our loyal fans for 18 years of support.
Utilise standard retail messaging and media spend, accentuated by a fan based app that would ensure loyal fans could engage with each other and the brand in celebration of the big 18th birthday bash.
The campaign creative was inspired by the concept of the balloon as a symbol of celebration. The "Feast With Friends" Facebook app allowed loyal fans to access their Facebook friends list and invite 5 friends to join them at their digital Ocean Basket 18th Birthday Table. The friends were then placed in balloon placeholders around the table and one lucky fan won a meal for 6 at their favourite Ocean Basket valued at R4, 500.00.
The app tied neatly into the Facebook API. The objective was to allow existing fans on Facebook to enter, whilst easily inviting other loyal fans who might not be on the Ocean Basket Facebook Page yet. The sharing mechanism also included data capture for newsletter subscription.
